This new year’s resolution is to stop making resolutions and start creating habits. I find that if I try to call them New Years resolutions by February I feel defeated because I have stopped trying. This year, 2018, I will create habits that will last me a life time.
How do you create a lasting habit? Be realistic about what it is you want to achieve. It is January don’t say you want to lose 25 pounds by February because it won’t happen, not in a healthy way it won’t. If you want to lose weight, start by saying I will eat an apple a day, eat my veggies and drink water every day and skip the carbs and sweets for the month of January. Small doable things that won’t set you up for failure, and set you up for success. By doing this every day you will be creating a habit and reprogramming your brain to go on automatic when it comes to these behaviors.
As for me, let me put it out there, I am not the best housewife. I fall short in keeping my house tidy and cooking meals for my family. This year I want to do much better, so I decided that for January I will pick two days our of the week that I will cook a meal. I want to start off small so that I can feel accomplished. The worse thing I can do is to try to cook all week when I know my schedule won’t permit the task. As for keeping my house tidy, I have written out a schedule that I will try to stick to all week. For me doing things in small chunks is better, if I try to attack my whole house I will never get it done and feel like a failure.
What meals will be cooking? Look for my post every Mondays and Wednesdays where I will post my dinner time menu and tips and tricks to get them on the kitchen table in less than hour.
This new year’s resolution is to create habits that will last me a life time.
